Foster Primary School is investing significantly in its Prep and Year 1 classrooms this year, introducing a co-teaching model that places two teachers and an Education Support Staff member in the room together every morning to deliver targeted, small-group learning.

The Buffalo Hall will host its annual community BBQ this Sunday 30 August as an opportunity for new and old local families to come together to meet or catch up over lunch.

The Yanakie Settlers Hut was filled to capacity recently as the Tuesday Golf Allstars hosted a sold-out Christmas in July fundraiser in support of local health and aged care services.

The Toora Community Action Team (TCAT) held their AGM on Sunday 26 July, joined by members of the community, South Gippsland Councillor Scott Rae and South Gippsland Shire’s Manager Community, Customer & Visitor (Future Communities) Sophie Dixon.

“The best swimming pool in the world” (according to one local man) faces permanent closure unless new volunteers step forward to take over its management, with the Grassy Spur Camping Reserve management committee announcing it will step down after 18 years of dedicated service.

Jill arrived in Foster with husband Howard in 2008 to live on a farmlet on Landing Road. It was a haven for Jill, who had always longed to again live on the land after her early childhood high in the hills in the Wye Valley near Wales.
