The 2026/27 Nippers season at Waratah Beach Surf Life Saving Club is just around the corner, and registration is now open for families wanting to secure their spot in one of the Prom Coast’s most popular summer programs.
Waratah Beach SLSC’s Nippers program runs over two intensive weeks after Christmas at Sandy Point Surf Beach, with six sessions plus a Club Carnival scheduled between 27 December 2026 and 8 January 2027. All sessions run from 9.30am to 11.30am, with sign-in from 9.15am.
The program teaches children surf safety awareness, surf skills, lifesaving skills, teamwork and competition skills, including how to identify hazards such as rips and a basic grounding in resuscitation and first aid. With more than 200 Nippers and over 100 volunteers, it is a significant community undertaking.
Registration this year requires two steps, both completed before 1 December. First, sign up for a family membership at waratahbeach.com.au, making sure to include a current Working With Children Check number and expiry date for every adult in the family. Second, every family is asked to sign up for a volunteer role: water safety, beach setup, the bar or something else. Sign up at volunteersignup.org/QCLMJ or email info@waratahbeach.com.au if you’d like help finding the right fit.
