A small, enthusiastic crowd assembled on a rainy July morning outside the Foster hall to grab all the best books at the Friends of Corner Inlet Book Sale, held on the 11th and 12th of July. Lines of books, all shapes, sizes and types, greeted the eager buyers who snapped up some bargains, with most books only 50 cents each. Children’s picture books and junior fiction enticed younger readers, while the eclectic selection of non-fiction attracted readers of all ages. Thanks to the dedicated volunteers, the fiction and murder mystery sections were sorted into alphabetical order this year, making it easier to find those favourite authors.
Organiser Liz Kindellan thanks all the dedicated volunteers, who worked over four days to set up the tables, sort the books, assist shoppers, take the money and finally pack up at the end.

“Without our fantastic volunteers there would be no book sale’’ she said. “It was harder to get volunteers this time, so we would welcome anyone who would like to help twice a year, in January and July.”
The book sale raised $2,500, which was a big achievement given the cold and wet conditions over the weekend. All funds raised go to the Foster Library, so that books, technology and items for the ‘Library of Things’ can be purchased. The next book sale is in January 2026, so any donations of quality books can be left at the library. For further information contact Liz Kindellan on 0448256 193.
