Fifteen-year-old Max Johnston has capped off a remarkable season, emerging as one of the standout young cricketers in Gippsland after helping the Leongatha and District Under 15s claim the Gippsland Cricket League premiership.

The talented all-rounder, who plays locally with Foster Cricket Club, captained the Leongatha and District Cricket Association Under 15 side to victory in the grand final at Korumburra, capping a dominant campaign.

As reported by the South Gippsland Sentinel-Times, Max’s leadership and consistency were central to the side’s success throughout the carnival. But the premiership was just one highlight in a season to remember.

Max was named the GCL Under 15 Player of the Year, selected in the Team of the Year and recognised as captain of the premiership side -  a clean sweep of the major honours.

For a 15-year-old to command that level of respect across the region speaks volumes. Those at Foster Cricket Club say they are immensely proud of his achievements, and with this trajectory, the Prom Coast may well be watching the early chapters of a very bright cricketing future.
