The second annual Corner Inlet Walk Against Family Violence is being held on Wednesday 3 December after a well-attended event last year. Many more organisations are collaborating this year to make it even more meaningful for our community to come together, raise awareness, and make our community a safe place for everyone.

This year the event is being proudly supported by South Gippsland Hospital, Foster Primary School, Foster Secondary College, Corner Inlet College, Gippsland Women’s Health, Manna Gum Community House, South Gippsland Shire Council, Respect Victoria, Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria, Myli, State Emergency Service and many more.

Meeting at the Foster Football Oval at 10.30am on Wednesday 3 December, beginning with aerial photos taken by Foster Secondary College media students, the walk will continue along to the Station Road Reserve to listen to guest speakers and then along to Manna Gum Community House for a cuppa and a chat.

The Foster Walk Against Family Violence is part of the worldwide campaign 16 Days of Activism, and is an opportunity for people across every community all over the world to unite and take action to help prevent and eliminate family and gender-based violence.

It runs for 16 days, beginning on 25th of November until 10th of December.

These are key dates as they mark International Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women (November 25) and International Human Rights Day (December 10). The colour orange is used throughout this campaign as a symbol of hope for a brighter future for all.

Everyone is welcome to come along, wear a splash of orange, and walk together to help prevent family violence. Annie Terese
