It’s hard to believe Christmas is nearly here…which means school holidays and Foster Show entry creating should be on everyone’s radars. While we’re all hopeful we’ll see lots of sunshine this summer, South Gippsland will be sure to offer the odd rainy day or dreaded easterly, creating the perfect opportunity for indoor crafting, cake decorating and preserve making for kids and adults. Regardless of what you've made, there's likely to be a show competition it can be entered in! Keep your eyes peeled in coming weeks for the Show Schedule being distributed around town – regular pick up points include the Post Office, Foodworks, the Vet Clinic, Bendigo Bank and Ag Warehouse.
Of course sunshine and outdoor time will bring great opportunities for snapping photos; grooming and parading calves and; perusing your garden for a special feature that you could show off as part of our 2026 Foster Show Garden Competition – “Show Your Grow”. We’re keen to celebrate something special in your garden this year, regardless of how big or neatly manicured it is. It could be a rare or unusual plant (something you’ve been able to to grow that wouldn’t normally grow in South Gippsland, an heirloom or unusual variety of fruit or veg or maybe something you’ve created); a home veggie patch (doesn’t matter what the rest of your garden looks like, if you’ve put all your time and energy into an awesome veggie patch, we want to see it) or; something “wow” or “wonderful” that features in your garden. Our steward and judge will come to you on the weekend of 7th-8th February 2026 for judging. Contact Kate on 0427 045 933 to register your interest/entry. There are awesome prizes generously sponsored by Foster Garden and Gravel up for grabs so it would be great to see lots of local entries.
Continuing the theme of celebrating local growing, we’re excited to offer a “Local Produce Showbag” as part of our 2026 Show. We’ve teamed up with a variety of local producers to include their produce and showbags will be available for collection on showday. Order forms will be available early in the new year so keep an eye out for more info on our website and socials.
