Garden lovers are invited to spend a Sunday exploring some of the most beautiful and lovingly tended private gardens in the Meeniyan and Stony Creek area, as the Meeniyan Open Gardens event returns on Sunday 22 November from 10am to 3pm.
Six gardens will open their gates to visitors, ranging from compact and intimate spaces to properties of more than two and a half acres. Some have been established for many years and continue to evolve under their owners’ care; others have been created entirely from scratch in the past decade.
The gardens span an impressive variety of styles and plantings, including natives, rose gardens, cottage gardens, mature trees, rock gardens, box hedging, succulents, orchards and vegetable patches, and there will be something to inspire gardeners of every persuasion, whether you are looking for ideas for a small plot or dreaming of something bigger.
Tickets are $10 per person, with children under 12 free, and are available from the Meeniyan Hub beside the Meeniyan Hall from 10am on the day. Disabled parking is available.
Organiser Di Byrnes is encouraging visitors to make a day of it and stop in to see the Meeniyan Community Garden, as well as supporting local traders with a coffee or meal while they are in town.
