It has been a big month for the local arts scene, with the Prom Coast's own Mark Avery elected to the board of Regional Arts Victoria at the organisation's 2026 Annual General Meeting.

Mark is the driving force behind two of Gippsland's best loved cultural offerings: the Fishy Stories children's literature festival and Prom Recitals, the regional music presenter that has brought world-class musicians to South Gippsland audiences for several years now.

Speaking of, locals won't have long to wait to see Prom Recitals in action again. On Sunday 14 June, Two Musical Worlds will bring an unforgettable afternoon of music and storytelling to the Fish Creek Memorial Hall, with a line-up of acclaimed artists from across the jazz and classical worlds.

The concert features Tony Gould (piano) and Niels Bijl (saxophones), joined by Marshall McGuire (harp), James Sherlock (guitar) and Mark Fitzgibbon (piano). The program traverses centuries and genres, with works by JS Bach (Grave, BWV 1003) and Erik Satie (Gymnopédie No. 1) sitting alongside compositions by Duke Ellington (Reflections in D), Cole Porter (You'd Be So Nice to Come Home To) and Astor Piazzolla (Ave Maria).

The "Two Worlds" concept was inspired by hearing each piece first performed as the composer originally intended, and then transformed through the lens of these gifted musicians.

Two Musical Worlds will be held at Fish Creek Memorial Hall on Sunday 14 June, beginning at 2.30pm. Doors open at 2.00pm — come early, settle in with a glass of wine and enjoy another rich musical experience in Fish Creek.

Tickets are available via www.trybooking.com/DLRNO.

Prom Recitals is supported by Fabelo and will also feature a Viola da Gamba concert on 30 August and Ensemble Liaison with pianist Timothy Young on 5 November.
