Social media ban? Rainy days ruining summer? Bored and confused? The cure has arrived! Prom Coast kids are encouraged to sign up for the Big Summer Read, which starts 1 December and invites children and teens to stay curious and connected over the holidays.

The Big Summer Read is a statewide summer reading challenge running across Victorian public libraries, encouraging young people to keep reading throughout the school holidays so their reading skills stay strong.

Whether it's a picture book, a novel, a graphic novel, or an audiobook, all reading counts. So grab the kids and head to Foster or Toora libraries, or check out the Foster book sale on 9-10 January to stock up on books, and the kiddos could win big!

Myli members will go into the draw to win exciting prizes, including a grand prize of either a YOTO Player or an Experience Voucher (redeemable at Gumbuya World, local cinemas, Moonlit Sanctuary, Phillip Island Nature Parks, Zoos Victoria, IMAX, Wildlife Coast Cruises or Museums Victoria membership) plus a book pack, with combined value of $200. Second prize is a $100 curated book pack, with seven additional prizes per shire including games and art supplies. Four winners statewide will each take home a Zoos Victoria family membership.

Victorian children under 18 are eligible to register and track their reading progress through the Big Summer Read website, with digital badges and prizes on offer. Parents can register and read to children who can't read independently yet.
