If you had not already heard, it is Victorian Seniors Festival Month and there are a whole host of events still to get to across the region from musical performances to Pickleball come and try sessions.

This year’s Victorian Seniors Festival theme is “Connect, Create, Celebrate”, and invites Victorians over 60 years old to come together, discover new interests, and celebrate.

Talk of celebrating, it is the Victorian Seniors Festival forty-third year, and is already up and running with a fabulous month-long program full of free or low cost events and activities. This festival encourages active aging, community participation and meaningful social interaction.

This major state-wide festival is spearheaded by the Victorian Government, and is bolstered by all of Victoria’s 79 local councils alongside community, groups, clubs, and other organisations.

South Gippsland itself has managed to pull together a busy calendar of events including flower arranging, history tales and morning teas for little or mostly no cost to attendees. Prom Coast events include the Golden Bowls at the Tarwin Lower Rec Reserve on the 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st, No Lights, No lycra at the Foster Hall on the 13th, Social Sixes cricket in Koonwarra on the 14th, a community lunch at Manna Gum in Foster on the 14th, Meeniyan Seniors History Celebration on the 19th, Grandparents storytime at the Foster Library on the 24th, and Seniors morning tea at the Foster Hall on the 29th.

Local Foster restaurants and cafes are also running special deals across October, including Foster Golf Club’s splendid new bistro, Rams, and Main Street favourite, the Kitchen Table.
