South Gippsland Shire Council is appealing to the community for information after plants were stolen from Pearl Park and the Foster roundabout on consecutive nights a fortnight ago.

Council's Open Space team was left frustrated and disheartened after plants were removed and then stolen again the very next night after staff had replanted the areas.

The first theft occurred on the night of 15 April, with plants taken from beds at Pearl Park and the Foster roundabout. Council staff replanted the affected areas the following day, only to find that additional plants had been taken again on Thursday night.

"The plants stolen were a mixture of ornamental and vegetable plants that our Parks and Gardens team chose deliberately for the space and time of year," a Council spokesperson said. "Council is extremely disappointed by this theft."

Police have not been contacted at this stage and no footage of the theft has been provided. Council is asking anyone who witnessed the plants being removed, or who has any information about who may be responsible, to get in touch directly. Cara Schultz
