The Sandy Point Community Group (SPCG) is presenting several popular summer events for locals and visitors over the coming months, with all proceeds supporting local groups and initiatives. The season kicks off with the Annual Christmas Gathering on 23 December - BYO picnic or BBQ from 4.30pm with music from 6pm at the Community Centre.

The famous Sandy Point Sandcastle Competition returns to the main beach on Sunday 28 December, with registration and start time from 10:30am. Over 200 people typically participate in this friendly, happy competition held near the surf lifesaving club, with families, groups and individuals of all ages creating impressive sandy creations.

Building stops at midday, followed by judging and prize awarding. Prizes will be awarded in all categories for best and highly commended sandcastles.

A sausage sizzle will be held at the start of the beach track for hungry sandcastle builders, serving as a fundraiser for the Sandy Point Men's Shed and the 'Sandy' community electric bus.

Entry fees are $2 for children (pre-teen), $5 for individuals, and $10 for families or groups. Cash and card accepted.

The Surf Life Saving Club’s Current Cruiser Swim is on 1 January, commencing at around 12.30 with the outgoing tide. Both the 500m and 1500m swims will commence from the Shallow Inlet beach carpark, with swimmers making their way back toward the finish line. The annual Foodies and Artisans Market is held a few days later, on Friday 3 January from 4pm at the Community Centre. The market features a wide variety of food vendors selling Turkish, Russian, Indian and Thai cuisine, plus waffles, calamari, pizzas, nuts, ice-cream, salamis, olives, honey, preserves and drinks including coffee. Wine tasting and wine and beer sales by the glass will be available at the bar, alongside artisan crafts.

Live music provides entertainment while visitors enjoy great local food and convivial company in the grounds of Sandy Point's beautiful hall. All events are organised by local volunteers, with all proceeds returned to the community to support local groups and initiatives.
