The Dees reserves team avenged their only loss of their 2026 season, defeating Yinnar 7.5 (47) to 3.7 (25) to claim the Mid Gippsland Reserves premiership at Meeniyan Recreation Reserve on Saturday.
The 22-point win was sweet redemption for the minor premiers, who had gone through the entire home and away season undefeated before Yinnar handed them a 27-point defeat in the second semi-final a fortnight earlier, the one blemish on an otherwise dominant year. On Saturday, MDU set the record straight in convincing fashion.
Earlier in the day, the MDU Under 18s got the grand final celebrations started in style, holding off Tarwin in a four-point thriller to claim the Under 18 flag and set the tone for what proved a memorable afternoon for the Demons.
