GippSport has launched a regional survey targeting women and girls across Gippsland, seeking insights into what helps or hinders their participation in physical activity.

The anonymous "Gippy Girls Can" survey takes just five minutes to complete and aims to shape future programs that meet the specific needs of local communities.

"We want to hear from you—whether you're super active, just getting started, or thinking about moving more," GippSport said in their call-out to participants.

The survey asks respondents to identify what helps them get active, what barriers they face, what activities they'd like to see in their communities, and what would make them feel welcome in sporting environments.

Responses will directly influence the development of low-cost, inclusive activities for women of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities across the region.

The initiative comes ahead of Gippy Girls Can Week, scheduled for September 8-14, which promises a week-long celebration of movement and inclusion for Gippsland women.

GippSport is calling on local sporting clubs, community groups, and health providers to get involved by hosting beginner-friendly sessions, social games, walking groups, gentle exercise classes, or dance sessions during the week.

"It's about feeling good, moving your way and finding joy in being active, whatever that looks like for you," organisers said.

The Gippy Girls Can program is delivered by GippSport in partnership with local councils, health services, and community organisations. It focuses on creating safe, inclusive, and fun opportunities for women to move their bodies, connect with others, and build confidence.

Activities can range from organised sports to walking with friends, trying new activities, or even dancing in the lounge room – emphasising movement without pressure and fun without judgment.

Sporting clubs and community organisations interested in hosting activities during Gippy Girls Can Week can submit an Expression of Interest through GippSport.

The program's inclusive approach welcomes women of all ages and abilities, aiming to break down traditional barriers to physical activity participation.
