For a chance to see some of the region’s best horse people in action head to the Yanakie Recreation Reserve on the first weekend of December. It’s here that the Fish Creek Football Netball Club will stage its annual Campdraft, one of the major fundraisers for the year.
Campdrafting is a uniquely Australian event and features horse and rider working as a team to control cattle within the confined space of an arena.
Glenn Park organises the event on behalf of the club and said without the support from local farmers and cattle cartage contractors, who supply and deliver the cattle, it would not be the success that it is.
Competitors travel from across the state to try their hand at taking out titles in various classes including Maiden, Novice, Open and Junior age section for Under 13 and Under 17. Spectators can view all the action and with a canteen, barbecue and bar available all weekend it promises to be a fun and entertaining family day out.
