I think a lot of us this week have been singing "rain, rain, go away". There was a grand total of five players playing in a 9 hole competition on Wednesday 18 June. Maxine Symmons (32) finished the best of the group on the back 9 holes with a score of 14 points. In the afternoon, the ladies all came together for afternoon tea and to farewell Geraldine Sinclair. Geraldine has been an integral part of our club with her passion, humour and all round golf ability and has been a prominent part of the golfing landscape with her willingness to represent the club at numerous district bowls and plates as well as her contributions to the club’s pennant side. We will miss Geraldine, but wish her every success and happiness as she heads back to South Pines GC.

It was a welcome sight come Thursday 19 June, with 11 players entered in a Stableford competition. Michael Purgar (29) was visiting from Yarram GC and took out the win, with a very well made 36 points. Kylie Collins (9) won nearest to pin on the 6th as well as a ball down the line with 34 points. Kiwi Jones (29) crafted out an impressive 32 points to take home the final ball down the line. Kevin Flett's lovely tee shot saw him win nearest to pin on the 15th.

Saturday's Competition was quite different. As the district descended into the shortest day of the year, the club came together to play a 4BBB event, in which partners were drawn out of a hat. Everyone teed off at 10:30 with groups starting on the 1st, 3rd, 10th and 16th holes. 18 players, or 9 groups played under beautiful yet at times, chilly skies. The "Club" pairing of Peter Furborough (Manager) and Phil Schofield (Head greenskeeper) took out the win with 41 exceptional points. The pair’s dominance was on show, as they took out several nearest to pins, Peter on the 13th and 17th and Phil on the 4th. Trent Price claimed the only other NTP for the day with his shot into the 6th green. There were two balls down the line, Brad Coates and Kylie Collins with 40 points and Shane Corrie and Neil Coates on 38 points.

The abysmal weather kept players away from Chicken run until Thursday. In the end it was Darren Piasente (24) that excelled through to winning with 21 points. Darren's playing partner on Friday, Hardy Dusterwald (25), finished second and claimed a ball down the line with 20 points. Two further balls down the line, Kevin Flett (11) with 17 points and Kylie Collins (9) in a threeway countback on 16 points. Included in Kylie's round was the one and only birdie on a par 3 for the week, a 2 on the 6th. The Caddy
