Foster Cricket Club took to the field at the weekend in fine conditions for cricket, facing a strong and well-balanced Korumburra side.
The ground was heavy and Foster batted first, setting a solid total of 10/113. In reply, Korumburra showed their strength with the bat, making the runs to be 1/116 in just 11 overs.
Foster batters, Gurinder Singh and Max Johnston provided resistance in the middle order, forming a steady partnership that helped rebuild the innings after early wickets. Both players showed patience and clean hitting against a tight Korumburra attack.
Eddie Smit led Fosters Bowling, supported by Lance Moon and captain Mitchell Allott. Andrew Pattie a sought after economical spell, conceding just nine runs from two overs, while Johnston backed up his batting with another solid performance in the field. Brandon Busuttil took a well-judged catch behind the stumps to dismiss one of Korumburra’s key batters.
With the club now fielding one senior side, Foster is focused on rebuilding ahead of the 2025/26 season and is welcoming new and returning players and supporters.
“Cricket has a proud tradition in Foster,” said club president and captain Mitchell Allott. “We’re keen to see it continue and encourage anyone interested to get involved next season.”
